Manufacturing job gains for the state
Manufacturers’ News reports Wyoming is now home to 1,639 manufacturers employing 35,941 workers. This year’s increase marks the fourth straight year of manufacturing job gains for the state.
“Wyoming’s industrial sector continues to pick up steam,” says Tom Dubin, President of the Evanston, IL-based publishing company, which has been surveying industry since 1912. “With zero taxes on corporations as well as limited regulation and fees, its business climate is one of the most industry-friendly in the nation, and its growing oil and gas sector is helping employment trend upward.”
Manufacturers’ News reports Wyoming’s top industries by employment all reported gains, with the oil & gas extraction sector posting an increase of 2.1%. The oil & gas industry in Wyoming currently employs 11,371. Jobs in second-ranked coal mining increased 5.8% and currently number 7,060.
Other notable employment gains were seen in industrial machinery, up 21%; fabricated metals, up 8.6% stone/clay/glass, up 5%; and food products, up 2.5%.
